Code for Sustainable Homes
As many of you now know the Code replaced Eco-Homes from April 2007 and introduced minimum standards for energy and water efficiency at every level of the new national standard.
The Code measures the sustainability of a new home against key categories rating the ‘Whole home’ as a complete package. The code uses a 1-6 star rating system to communicate the overall sustainability performance of a new home.
The minimum standards for energy & water efficiency are particularly stringent compared to Eco Homes and will require early attention.
Key aspects of sustainability include;
• Surface water run-off
• Health & well being
