I do not know about everyone else, but I have always believed that cities have been the major producer of carbon emissions. Through out my history lessons we were always taught of the large scale industrialisation and shown pictures of the factories releasing all those harmful gases into the air whilst the country side looked peaceful, clean and pleasant. I guess it was from this, that I have always thought of cities and the poeple living in them as being the heavy polluters of our world.

However I was very surprised to learn what I did when I read the following study.

According to this study my beliefs are not correct and in fact "Greenhouse gas emissions of city dwellers are often far smaller than the national averages"

Has anyone else ever come across similar information as this? What are your thoughts?
