GE and Siemens to invest in UK offshore wind

US conglomerate General Electric has announced its plans to build an offshore wind turbine manufacturing plant in the UK. Although the plant’s site is unknown, GE predicts it will create 2000 green jobs. Following the criticised closure of the Vestas plant on the Isle of Wight last year, leaving Britain without a major wind turbine plant, DECC welcomed the announcement.
