This got me thinking. How about a government initiative to reduce waste caused by junk mail?
Instead of having three unconnected lists, why not just have one central list that households can register with to stop all addressed and unaddressed junk/direct mail, free newspapers and flyers. Companies (like the ubiquitous curry and pizza takeaway outlets) that flyer drop would then be open to prosecution for non-compliance with the register?
This would surely go down well with everyone except the Royal Mail, Takeaways and Direct Mail companies? REDUCE, reuse, recycle.

Ignoring the Mail Preference Service by sending me Direct Mail? That's not very responsible. Certainly not in line with your efforts to reduce consumers'
Not much to say about this one, just depressingly opportunistic and irresponsible.

from across the pond in the US about someone else who got totally fed up with junk mail. I'll admit, their approach is more restrained and patient than mine!
