Unilever top of FTSE climate change index

Unilever top of FTSE climate change index
Unilever has appeared at the top of the new FTSE climate change index as the company in the UK best equipped to deal with climate change.

FTSE announced the launch of the new CDP Carbon Strategy All-Share Index and the CDP Carbon Strategy 350 Index last week in partnership with the Carbon Disclosure Project and ENDs Carbon.

The Guardian reports that Unilever is the first company to top the 350 list, with its track record so far being described as "superb".

BT came in second, followed by Morrisons and Rolls-Royce in third and fourth places respectively.

Shares in the new indices are weighted on the same criteria as the All-Share index, with additional consideration given to the predicted impact of climate change on returns.

The ratings are based on predicted emissions data and comparisons of companies within the same sector.

According to the news provider, 60 of the firms in the FTSE 350 refused to publish emissions data and are not included in the new indices.ADNFCR-1235-ID-19863339-ADNFCR
