TV star joins FoE in Copenhagen

TV star joins FoE in Copenhagen
TV star Helen Baxendale has joined forces with Friends of the Earth (FoE) to put fresh pressure on politicians in Copenhagen.

The actress, who has appeared in small screen classics such as Friends and Cold Feet, accompanied representatives from the environmental organisation on a train to the Danish capital on Friday (December 11th).

She said: "I'm travelling to Copenhagen because climate change is the most urgent threat facing humanity and I want to add my voice to those from around the globe calling on world leaders to reach a strong and fair agreement at the UN climate talks.

"As a mother I feel it's important to provide a world which is safe and stable for all children to grow up in - we need world leaders to take action now to prevent climate catastrophe."

Ms Baxendale is backing FoE's Demand Climate Change campaign which is calling on politicians to fight for a fair and strong agreement to reduce global carbon emissions to tackle climate change.

As part of the initiative, FoE launched an international petition, which was signed by Ms Baxendale, and is expected to be presented to world leaders in Copenhagen this week.
