Top tips to cut carbon offered

Top tips to cut carbon offered
Two experts have compiled a list of carbon-cutting tips, which they believe are the key to green and sustainable living.

Edwin Datschefski and Katharine Robinson said that just a few steps taken in the household can result in tonnes of carbon emissions being reduced.

The pair published their top tips on BioThinking.com, where they identified the biggest carbon emitters in daily life.

These include flying on fewer long-haul trips, getting a greener car, reducing driving time, making sure three-quarters of the household's food is home-grown and giving a "thermal makeover" to one's house.

"Very few things actually save a tonne of CO2. Here they are. Anyone can do four of these to save four tonnes," the experts noted.

"Most other actions are small fry: go for the big savings to make a real difference. We don't claim they're all easy but they are all doable, and frankly they are the only choices we have right now."
