Scottish firm wins second wind farm contract

SubOcean, an Aberdeen-based underwater installation specialist, has won a second wind farm contract with Centrica.

The company will be involved with cable installation and connection at the Inner Dowsing and Lynn wind farms, and the contract is worth a seven-figure sum, the Scotsman reports.

SubOcean technicians will conduct a survey on cable routes before finally connecting power cables to the wind turbines under the water.

The deal will help the firm achieve its aim of generating £40 million worth of sales from the renewable energy sector over the coming two years.

"It is extremely pleasing to have seen this project right the way through and we are delighted at the confidence placed in us by Centrica," said SubOcean operations director Mike Daniel.

"We are forecasting revenues of £40m from renewables in the next two years and the work with Centrica this year has had a significant and positive impact on that target."
