Scotland, India sign green energy pact

Scotland, India sign green energy pact
Scotland and India have entered into a partnership to work together to meet their renewable energy goals.

The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday (Wednesday, October 14th) in order to smooth the progress of their new pledge.

Plans listed in the document include increasing supplies of wind energy and biofuels, using Scottish green technology to reduce carbon emissions in India and working in partnership to cut down on reliance on traditional fossil fuels.

Michael Russell, Scottish minister for external affairs, commented: "Like Scotland, India is blessed with an abundance of the natural resources needed to generate renewable energy and its government is clearly committed to exploiting this in order to secure its energy future and meet the current energy needs of remote and rural communities."

Scotland has a target of meeting 50 percent of its total electricity demand with renewable energy sources by 2020, helping the country lead the way to a low carbon future.

both countries have big wind plans. We have invested in Scottish wind getting an approx return of 10% but Indian wind turbine much more profitable with return of 13%. What's more no planning or grid problems and from walking off street in to offices our 600KW WT was operating within 3 months, If Scotland can learn one thing from Indians is to how to get infrastructure and planning quick and easy.
