Govt energy-efficient office scheme 'is overdue'
The UK is lagging behind in designing energy-efficient office buildings and business premises, experts have claimed.

Commenting on the creation of the government's new Energy Efficient Whitehall scheme, The Renewable Energy Centre.co.uk said the fact it has taken until 2010 for such a project to be put in place shows "how far behind the curve we are".

Under the new scheme, four government departments will install energy-efficient technology and try to change staff behaviour to energy usage to provide an example for green office and business premises.

A spokesperson for the centre said if such projects had been started earlier the commercial sector could be making much greater headway in reducing its carbon emissions.

"Government buildings and offices should have been first on the agenda for making changes quite a few years ago," they added.

The Department for Energy and Climate Change, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Department for Communities and Local Government and Foreign and Commonwealth Office will all be participating in the project.  ADNFCR-1235-ID-800219089-ADNFCR

It time we look at proper long term solutions this means long term looking at radient heat systems such as infra-red. Air source and ground source and gas and oil are not the future they are dead technology and are not long term and could be eventually used in conjuction with solar power
