Carluccio's embarks on biofuels deal

Carluccio's embarks on biofuels deal
Italian restaurant chain Carluccio's has entered into a partnership to convert its used cooking oil into biofuel.

Under the new deal, Convert 2 Green will collect used oil from the 54 branches of the chain across the UK.

This will then be turned into biofuel to power delivery trucks, slashing CO2 emissions by up to 90 per cent compared to conventional fuel.

Steve Kaddish, development manager at Carluccio's, said: "Our aim in the first 12 months is to save 92.7 tonnes of carbon through recycling our waste oil – a big step in our overall aim to recycle in the region of 78 percent of all our waste."

PwC announced earlier this year it is planning on using cooking oil from restaurants located in London's city centre to power its new headquarters at More London, through a deal with ARAMARK and Arrow Oil.

The firm will be supplied with 45,000 litres of cooking oil per month, which should be capable of meeting 25 percent of the building’s electricity and 20 percent of its heating and cooling needs. ADNFCR-1235-ID-800632126-ADNFCR

Carluccio's has been recycling it's cooking oil into biodiesel for years (I did some of it myself), so no net change in emissions here or it's receycling rate here.
And is every litre of valuable liquid biofuel that PwC use to heat their building then on litre less available for transport use?
