Carbon capture has role to play

Carbon capture has role to play
Ignoring the role carbon capture can play in lowering emissions would be "irresponsible", Dr Jeff Chapman has said.

The chief executive of the Carbon Capture & Storage Association (CCSA) explained that the benefits of carbon capture cannot be ruled out.

Speaking about the release of the new film Age of Stupid, Dr Chapman said that he believes it will be difficult to prevent the construction of coal-fired power stations in certain parts of the world.

"Considering that we are inevitably going to be dependant upon fossil fuels, especially coal, into the future, it really would be irresponsible to ignore that fact and the solution that carbon capture and storage brings," he commented.

"Coal exists in abundance and carbon capture and storage is a perfectly natural way to take carbon from the ground, release its energy, and return it to the ground," the CCSA representative added.

Figures from the Institute for Public Policy Research (ippr) suggest that carbon capture and storage has the potential to cut emissions from coal plants by up to 90 percent.

Can someone please explain to me how "public policy research" can have any bearing on technologies of "carbon capture" (as advertised by "Dr. Chapman").
Always supposing that a "90%" cut in emissions, OF THE PLANT CONCERNED, can be achieved by said technology, what of any "hidden extras" associated with it's creation and use ?

There has always existed "CCT" - in the unlikely guise of TREES.
So we have heaps of "carbonate" ? to find a home for, while forests continue to shrink ?.
This doesen't look like a good deal from here, and I don't even live in a forest.
We will end with sand and various carbonates - to play sandcastles with ?
Still - fab meeting. Loved the barfood !
