Raffle for eco-friendly house

Raffle for eco-friendly house
A special raffle is set to take place in the UK - for an energy efficient mansion.

The multi-million pound house in Alcester Health, near Stratford, will be up for grabs in the world's largest property lottery.

TV host Chris Tarrant launched the competition, which will allow interested parties to buy £25 tickets for a chance of winning the mansion.

Known as the Poacher's Retreat, the three-storey home includes high-density insulation, which keeps energy bills as low as £270 per year, despite the huge size of the house.

The 10,000 square foot low carbon building was originally designed to include wind turbines, but this plan was scrapped by owners Malcolm and Maxine Cox.

Mr Cox told the Daily Mail: "We decided to focus on the conservation of energy and layered the floors and ceilings with high-density insulation which means heating bills are extremely low considering the size of the place."

The couple intend to finance other low carbon initiatives once the building is sold.
