Poll shows UK public's decreasing interest in climate change

Poll shows UK public's decreasing interest in climate change
Evidence that UK consumers are still divided on the issues of energy and climate change can be seen in a new survey.

Commissioned by the energy company EDF, the YouGov poll reveals decreasing levels of interest and understanding to do with the issues surrounding global warming.

The percentage of respondents who understood the major energy issues affecting the UK government stood at just 41 per cent.

This is in comparison to the 72 per cent who claimed to know the subject in 2008 and the 89 per cent who said they understood the issues affecting the economy.

Gaps were revealed between the number of people who claimed to be interested in climate change and the number who were interested in where the UK's energy came from, with scores of 62 per cent and 80 per cent respectively.

The figures echo those released by the Pew Research Centre for the People and the Press in the US last week, which showed 32 per cent believed climate change was a congressional priority, in comparison with the 67 per cent who said energy was of high importance.

YouGov's poll also discovered that 33 per cent of the British public are still unsure if climate change is happening, despite a high level of interest in wind energy as a renewable resource being registered.ADNFCR-1235-ID-19796063-ADNFCR

I suppose when your spokesman for climate issues is a former spokesman for the Association of Private Security Companies, as does the UK high commission in Canada, findings like this are bound to follow.
Perhaps if there was less gossip and chit-chat about people's private lives from the commission, people would pay attention.

This is a very interesting Poll. For some years now I have wondered why it is that I have had such a dreary response from organizations you would expect to be interested in simple matters of fact regarding Wind-energy, in this case. I have got the impression that their understanding of matters is severely limited, and that they must simply like any old excuse to plonk collosal ego-trips all over the place - so long as it pays them well-enough, of course. They are allways quite unconcerned when I point-out 4 very basic reasons which account for why "modern windfarms" are about 40-odd times the cost that they could be. (also about the same factor of visibleness, that they would be)This is not only simple reason, but, these days, demonstrated fact. It's a kind of "molest us not with arithametic - that's just for kids, and we have a A-level, in "math", and what you say (2x2x2 = 8) doesn't mean anything to Us", attitude.
