Nuclear power - no one needs it. No one wants to leave a nuclear waste legacy for hundreds of generations.
What we need to concentrate on is the end game - an all renewable future. It would be technology that can be exported. It would show the world which way to go. What if more undesirables like Iran want to go for nuclear power plants. It destabilises whole regions.
Also, who is paying the 70bn£ to clean up the old power station that have been closed, yes you and me. I have no wish to pay for that over and over. If we had carried on building nuclear plants that bill would have been massively higher.
We have to concentrate on more renewables, interconnectors, pumped storage and energy conservation.

as stated on the discussion programme after the C4 show, it would be great to think that the green movement had such power to halt the nuclear building programme. Try looking a five mile island, chernobyl and clean up costs to see why nuclear has been seen as risky by financiers and govts
