Nationwide search for low carbon innovators

Nationwide search for low carbon innovators
Low carbon innovators across the length and breadth of Britain have the chance to win a competition searching for clean technology pioneers.

The Carbon Trust has launched its Innovation Awards, which is looking for businesses, individuals and other organisations to come up with exciting new ways to cut carbon usage.

As well as the chance of international recognition and commercial awareness, the winners will be able to see how their developments compare to other innovators in the field.

Tom Delay, chief executive of the Carbon Trust, said: "The UK has a fantastic opportunity to lead the global market for clean technologies and these awards will highlight the world class culture of innovation in leading UK organisations.

"Through the successful development and commercialisation of low carbon technologies, the UK can help cut carbon and enjoy significant economic benefit."

Experts including Tim Smit, co-founder and chief executive of the Eden Project and Chris Mottershead, vice-principle of research and innovations at Kings College London, will be on the judging panel for the awards.
