Meadows shoots energy efficiency adverts
Award winning director Shane Meadows has made adverts encouraging householders to make their homes more energy efficient, cut their energy bills and reduce their carbon emissions.

Meadows, who won the Bafta for best British film for This is England, has made a series of adverts following a father's efforts to make his home more energy efficient.

The adverts will receive their first airing tonight, following the news that householders have increasingly been seeking advice on cutting their fuel consumption, bills and carbon emissions.

According to the Energy Saving Trust's ACT ON CO2 advice line, the number of callers has quadrupled since the government announced a £910 million project to help homes with their energy bills.

A large part of those funds is dedicated to giving free or discounted insulation to homeowners.

Environment secretary Hilary Benn said: "I am encouraged that following last week's announcement, people are looking to take action to cut their fuel bills and save energy at the same time. We now need to build on that enthusiasm."
