Low carbon driving encouraged by Lotus

Low carbon driving encouraged by Lotus
Group Lotus is encouraging low carbon driving through the development of its new car, the Eco Elise.

Revealed ahead of the London Motor Show, the Eco Elise adopts a range of environmentally-friendly technologies and materials in order to promote greener driving.

The car is lightweight, in keeping with the company's "performance through light weight" philosophy, which helps to reduce fuel consumption, in addition to its green gear change feature, which encourages greener driving methods.

Furthermore, the Eco Elise was constructed using eco wool, hemp and sisal - materials that were developed for its body panelling and trim.

Chief executive officer of Group Lotus Mike Kimberley stated: "The Lotus brand values of lightweight, fuel efficient and high performance are more relevant today than they ever have been."

In related news, the group was recently selected to create a fleet of zero carbon taxis for London by 2012.
