Iberdrola announces emissions statistics

Iberdrola announces emissions statistics
A total of 42 per cent of all power production undertaken by Spanish power firm Iberdrola last year was carbon emission-free, according to a recent company statement.

The utilities firm, which acquired ScottishPower in April 2007, announced that its global carbon emissions totalled 289 grammes per kilowatt hour, while in Spain, emissions were cut to 187 grammes per kilowatt hour.

It also reported that 67 per cent of all the electricity the company generates in Spain releases no carbon emissions.

This week, the firm also announced that its electricity generation capacity surpassed 42,700 megawatts, due largely to the acquisition of ScottishPower.

Meanwhile, the company announced today that it is reinforcing its presence in the eastern European nations of Poland, Hungary and Estonia, in addition to new plans for windfarm products which will produce up to 1,600 megawatts of electricity in Romania.ADNFCR-1235-ID-18466679-ADNFCR
