Green thermal energy generation 'becoming easier'
Installing thermal solar panels and ground and air source heat pumps is easier than ever before, according to one self-build expert.
Anna-Marie DeSouza, editor at Build It magazine, said that the Renewable Heat Incentive is offering a "more affordable way" to install such technologies, but they remain a "long-term commitment".
The comments come after research by thinkinsulation.com found that 26 percent of people are still unaware that there is funding available from the government for energy-efficient improvements.
The coalition's flagship policy the Green Deal is intended to encourage more people to make their homes more eco friendly by removing the upfront cost of improvements, however, it will not be available until late 2012.
According to the survey, just 12 percent of people have taken advantage of the financial incentives available.
Ms DeSouza said that, especially in the case of insulation, energy-efficient improvements have the potential to save hundreds of pounds in the future.
"Being environmentally aware and leading a sustainable lifestyle is an increasingly important part of modern life. I can't stress enough the importance of a properly insulated home," she added.
