Govt to 'shelve plans for tougher emissions standards'
The government is likely to put aside plans to introduce tougher emissions standards, which some claim could allow for the development of dirty power plants, reports suggest.

Plans for an emissions performance standard were backed by both the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives when they were in opposition.

However, the standards are unlikely to be introduced in the government's first energy bill later this year, according to the reports.

The Guardian states that the delay in implementing the standards could allow for the development of coal-fired power plants such as Kingsnorth.

Greenpeace energy campaigner Joss Garman said: "Both Lib Dem and Conservative MPs voted for the introduction of such a measure just a few months ago, and if they U-turn on this and fail to put this measure into their new energy law, how can they claim to be the greenest government ever?"

In the coalition programme, the government states that the emissions performance standard would prevent coal-fired power stations being built without sufficient carbon capture and storage facilities.  ADNFCR-1235-ID-800026014-ADNFCR

Why use fuel in power plants that creates C02 emissions? My invention of therm - liquid fuel will be such that it will drive power plants in GREEN performance.

Willing to disclose info under signed NDA to interested party.
