Fund manager claims energy efficiency firms may yield greater returns
A green fund manager has claimed that energy efficiency firms may provide greater returns than biofuel development or renewable energy companies.

Charlie Thomas, who manages the £300 million Jupiter Ecology fund, said although energy efficiency may be less "sexy" and well-publicised than other sectors, it has a "more meaningful impact" in the long-term, Reuters reported.

He added that as more environmental regulation set out by governments will support technology deemed to be energy efficient, there is room for growth in the sector.

Mr Thomas also explained that while the image of "big white turbines" is "iconic" in the focus on climate change, there are important developments to be made in clean energy technology such as solar and wind power, as well as fuel cell development, biofuels, insulation and other energy efficiency measures.

The Jupiter ecology fund was the UK's first authorized green unit trust and makes assessments based on separate social, financial and environmental evaluations. It invests in firms around the world which have demonstrated that they are committed to protecting the environment over the long-term.ADNFCR-1235-ID-18537597-ADNFCR
