Fuel conservation priority for local police force

Fuel conservation priority for local police force
Fuel efficiency lessons are being given to police officers in Devon and Cornwall, it has been reported.

In an effort to reduce costs amid soaring fuel prices, police in the area are being trained to use less fuel and adopt alternative modes of transport, according to the Plymouth Herald.

Car-share schemes have been initiated, as well as increased used of video conferencing to cut down on journeys and reducing the number of cars used.

Furthermore, investment has been made to replace older cars with low carbon models.

Martin Davis, head of transport with Devon and Cornwall police, told the news source: "We are doing all these things to try to maintain front-line services and absorb the costs."

"We are now also teaching drivers how to drive economically and in a green fashion to preserve fuel."

The Energy Saving Trust maintains that motorists could save some £375 a year by opting for more eco-friendly cars in their class.
