FoE partners Good Energy

FoE partners Good Energy
Friends of the Earth have announced a partnership with the only UK electricity firm to generate all its energy from renewable sources.

Wiltshire's Good Energy has said that it will donate £30 to the campaign group for every new customer that signs up with the company.

As a result of having a 100 per cent renewable fuels mix, Good Energy also has the lowest carbon emissions of any energy company – no kilograms per kilowatt hour. At the other end of the scale, Scottish Power, which generates 55 per cent of its electricity from burning coal emits 0.63 kilograms per kilowatt hour.

Renewable energy campaigner Nick Rau said: "Friends of the Earth is delighted to be working in partnership with Good Energy. Good Energy are raising awareness of climate change and investing in renewable energy projects – this supports Friends of the Earth's goal to wean the UK off its addiction to dirty coal, oil and gas."

However, questions have been raised by the partnership given that Good Energy has announced plans to sell gas.

The company has said that it is necessary to sell the fossil fuel to attract customers to its clean energy.
