Final destination for waste to be reported

Final destination for waste to be reported
Waste disposal authorities (WDA) will have to report the final destination of their waste under guidelines issued by the Environment Agency.

The guidelines were sent to the WDA's require them to reveal the final destination of waste handled in the UK an the final place it is processed before being sent abroad for waste sent overseas.

According to letsrecyle website, the agency said: "We require the final facility destination for materials handled in the UK. When recyclates are destined for export we expect that this will be the final reprocessor or Material Recovery facility (MRF) prior to export."

The agency also said that final destinations were not considered as commercially sensitive information and so could not be withheld on grounds of confidentiality.

Meanwhile Waste and Resource Action Programme (WRAP) launched an online database allowing reprocessors and other stakeholders to find municipal materials recovery facilities.

Mike Falconer Hall, Materials Recycling Programme Manager at WRAP, said: "Encouraging better communication across the supply chain is an essential part of WRAP's drive to support the industry as it works to improve the quality of recovered materials."

Final destination of municipal waste is unknown because in many cities(like Bucharest) you put in different containers/vessels wastes and, later, the special truck collect all wastes in same recipient.
Same situation is in many countries from Europe!
Unfortunately is not a real global programm for waste recycling!
For a real effect must to modify the "brain" of inhabitants!
