Energy firm supplies solar water pumps in Africa

Energy firm supplies solar water pumps in Africa
A Welsh company specialising in renewables has been chosen to supply new solar-powered water pumps to a number of east African villages.

It has emerged that Tywyn-based True Energy has been awarded a $1 million (£500,000) contract to supply 25 locations in the Djibouti region of east Africa with the technology - as well as install the facilities, the Western Mail reports.

The newspaper adds the firm will also provide training to local villagers to ensure the systems are maintained, something which Phil McVan, managing director of True Energy, suggests should not cause too much of a problem.

"The solar-powered system comes with a 25-year guarantee and is also extremely easy to maintain, thus creating a sustainable water provision set-up," he told the newspaper.

"Women and children will no longer spend hours each day fetching and carrying water and their health will also improve."

With over 20 years experience in renewables, True Energy offers a number of low carbon solutions such as thermal energy and biomass systems.ADNFCR-1235-ID-18559153-ADNFCR
