CRC scheme to be centre stage at London expo
Companies from a number of sectors will be gathering in London next month to discuss the implications of the UK government's Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) emissions trading scheme.
That is one of the topics of conversation for the Carbon Show, an up-coming event that will take place at the ExCeL in London's Royal Docklands on September 29th and 30th.
Due to be launched next year, the CRC programme is intended to reduce the emissions of the sector for large non-energy intensive commercial organisations by 1.2 million tonnes of carbon per year by 2020.
However, many firms may not be prepared for the scheme, despite its imminent arrival, and this is something that will be discussed in the UK capital.
Other issues to be analysed at the event include carbon audits and consulting, as well as renewable and energy-efficient technologies that can help businesses to reduce their emissions.
With the government struggling to meet the carbon emissions targets for its own departments, the Environmental Audit Committee claimed this month that Whitehall could pay the best-performing private firms through the CRC to make up the difference.http://www.thecarbonshow.com/
