Citroen boss applauded for green efforts

Citroen boss applauded for green efforts
The executive vice president of the car maker Citroen has been applauded for his contribution to greener motoring.

Gilles Michel won the Outstanding Achievement gong at this year's European GreenFleet Awards for his efforts in reducing the environmental impact of motoring.

GreenFleet's events manager Colin Boyton said Mr Michel was a deserved winner of the award thanks to "the key strategies he has overseen in the development of different technologies within Citroen".

He said that as a result of Mr Michel's efforts Citroen has been able to win the Car Manufacturer of the Year award for the last two years, despite fierce competition from other manufacturers looking for ways to improve their own green credentials.

Citroen has introduced a number of low emission vehicles to the market in recent years, including its C1, C2, C3 and C4 ranges, which boast features such as such as a diesel particulate filter system and an innovative stop and start system.
