£1.4bn in energy efficiency savings 'available to UK businesses'
UK businesses could save both money and energy by introducing six simple and affordable energy efficiency measures, according to a green power expert.
By embracing measures such as turning off light bulbs and computers, the UK's firms could save a total of £1.4 billion, claimed the chief executive of the Carbon Trust, Tom Delay.
And he also revealed that the cost savings would also reduce carbon emissions next year by 11 million tonnes.
Mr Delay explained: "Reducing your carbon footprint through improved energy efficiency should be top of the New Year's resolution list for any business in 2008.
Putting energy efficiency and carbon saving into action couldn't be easier and switching off lights, turning down the heating and turning off equipment when not in use can save businesses an average of more than ten per cent on their energy bills
Figures published by the Carbon Trust indicate that a business that manages to reduce its energy use by 20 per cent could save funds equivalent to a five per cent increase in sales.
