TEAM assist large retailer to obtain subsidy payments and reduce heating carbon emissions by 80%
TEAM IRMA ServiceTEAM’s Independent Report on Heat Metering (IRMA) service has enabled a retailer with an award winning energy efficiency and sustainability strategy, to obtain approval for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme and begin claiming substantial quarterly subsidy payments.
The payments are for heat generated by a biomass boiler that reduces carbon emissions to below 20% of previous levels. This initial project has subsequently been extended to fifty other stores in the retail estate.
The national group with retail stores traditionally heated by gas fired boiler plant is implementing an initiative to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions by installing biomass boilers. As an important part of the cost justification the biomass heat generated is to benefit from subsidy payments under the RHI with boiler plants of 700 kW heating capacity obtaining tens of thousands of pounds per quarter over 20 years. This provides a bottom line benefit to stores in addition to substantial carbon emissions saving.
The initial store project has been completed and approved under the RHI scheme and the subsequent stores are now in progress.
TEAM has been involved from the start, and continues to work on the project by advising on biomass boiler installations, collation of information in preparation of the application, carrying out site visits and provision of the Ofgem compliant IRMA report.
