Sovereighn Housing Association and TEAMDuring the first year of the bill validation and cost recovery service provided by TEAM, 237 billing queries were investigated across several sites. The electricity and gas cost savings were mostly the result of consumption queries and metering investigations.
Sovereign is one of the largest providers of affordable housing in the south and south-west of England, with more than 36,000 homes, including an ever-increasing portfolio of over 1,200 communal properties. Working in partnership with the TEAM Energy Bureau, Sovereign has been able to take a centralised approach to billing, with one point for processing all communal utility bills across the organisation. Additional support from TEAM has provided the extra time and resource needed to check and chase billing inaccuracies.
Martin Theobald, Bureau services manager at TEAM comments "It’s always really pleasing when the Bureau find such significant savings on behalf of a client. The Bureau department has a great relationship with Sovereign Housing Association, we will of course strive to continue making savings for them and their tenants in the future."
Martin Huckerby, Sovereign’s finance director, said: "We have an excellent working relationship with SWALEC and TEAM, and we have been delighted at the quick turnaround in dealing with queries. As a charitable, social business, we are really pleased about the savings we have made, and which we have been able to pass on to our customers, including elderly residents in communal properties. As always it is important that we make sure that our records are correct and that bills are accurate."
