Our MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accredited Heat Pumps are eligible for RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) subject to Green Deal Assessment
What is RHI?
The domestic RHI is a government run financial support scheme, scheduled to start in Spring 2014. The government will pay support at a set rate per unit of renewable heat produced (kWh) for seven years, to the owner of the heating system after the renewable heat equipment is installed.
The scheme is open to anyone who has had eligible technology installed after 15th July 2009, provided the eligibility requirements have been satisfied.
One of the requirements to qualify for RHI is a Green Deal Assessment (GDA) to find out what energy efficiency measures are cost effective for the property.
What is Green Deal?
Green Deal is a government run scheme that can help make energy-saving improvements to homes or businesses without having to pay all the costs in advance.
The amount of Green Deal finance offered towards the cost of a renewable heating system will depend on the expected fuel bill savings from the measures installed in the particular property. People will be able to use the Green Deal finance and still claim the RHI.
Green Deal Assessment
The assessment must be carried out by a qualified Green Deal assessor found directly or through a Green Deal provider. Green Deal provider/assessor charges vary, but normally don’t exceed £150.
The assessor will inspect the property and calculate the energy consumption. A Green Deal Advice Report will be issued explaining potential improvements to reduce the energy consumption and an estimate explaining how much can be saved on energy bills. The assessor must get permission before the assessment to quote for improvements or recommend products or providers.
Please note not all improvements are fully covered under the Green Deal.
