Solar Investment Summit in the Middle East 2011

While the EU has dominated the world market in the past and is likely to continue to do so, the rest of the world has the biggest potential for growth. This is especially true for the Middle East region, which will rank among the fastest growing photovoltaic markets in the near future. In the last year alone green investments in the Middle East and Africa increased by 104 per cent. Driven by local and global energy demand, countries in the MENA region are setting up some ambitious projects for renewables, such as the Masdar City program in the United Arab Emirates.

The conference, Solar Investment Summit – Middle East 2011, which takes place in Dubai on 26 and 27 October 2011, offers the opportunity for solar companies from all over the world to get in contact with regional decision makers and investors. How a solar market and the corresponding industry can be developed in the Middle East is one of the main questions of the conference. In the framework of the event approximately 150 participants will discuss with representatives of the e-government of the United Arab Emirates, and experts of the Emirates Solar Industry Association, the Renewable Academy, the National Technology Enterprises Company of Kuwait, and the Kawar Group.

Topics of the conference, which is organized by Solarpraxis AG and Distech, are the buildup of a sustainable infrastructure, industry and supply chain as well as the training and the knowledge transfer in the field of technology. Further issues are the bankability as well as the job engine solar energy, and the bottlenecks, which develop during the project planning.

Above all the event aims at an optimal exchange between investors, banks and insurers on the one side and manufacturers and project developers on the other side. During break times and within organized B2B meetings participants have the chance to discuss business models as well as potential new projects.
