Solar thermal sytems


A household's annual hot water bill can be reduced by up to 75% with the installation of a solar system. A thirty-tube collector panel will typically provide a family of four with practically free hot water for eight months of the year; the rest of the time, existing conventional water heating can give it a boost.

Such systems need not be confined to small-scale domestic usage, however, but may also be employed commercially.

There are several options available for incorporating solar water heating into a site. A storage cylinder for sun-heated water can be placed above an existing tank, and linked to feed into it. The solar system can also be tied into a combi boiler.
