Sol installs mission-critical solar lighting systems at the famed Top Gun flight school
Sol Inc., a leading provider of solar LED outdoor lighting solutions for the United States Military, commercial and municipal clients, is pleased to announce the installation of 38 lighting
systems at the Naval Air Station in Fallon, Nevada. Sol’s solar powered LED Cobrahead and LED flood lights will provide both enhanced night operations at aircraft fuel stations and increased security at power sub-stations.
Paul Wickberg, president and CEO of Sol, Inc., says that being selected to provide mission-critical lighting systems for the prestigious Top Gun School at Fallon N.A.S. is significant for several reasons. “Sol’s section for the solar light systems at the Fallon N.A.S ’Top Gun’ refueling area is a testament to our performance, support and reputation,” he noted. “Our uniquely configured solar lighting systems exceed the typical requirements of commercial solar lighting systems due to the unique nature of the installation. Our engineers coordinated with key contacts at the site to ensure the systems are mission-ready for the U.S. Navy’s unique needs.”
Mark Kampmann, BUC CBMU (chief builder with the U.S. Naval Construction Maintenance Unit) and the other U.S. Navy Seabees who worked on this installation enjoyed the process from start to finish. “The overall experience with the solar lights was efficient and kind of fun to put together,” Chief Kampmann stated. “It's nice that we were able to avoid connecting to existing high voltage lines and the lightweight fiberglass utility poles made installation very easy. In addition to the lights being aesthetically pleasing, they also provide ample lighting and a sense of security for personnel being able to see their work area.”
