Renewable Energy India Forum

Solar 2010

Start Date:21 Sep 10 End Date:22 Sep 10

Would pan India strategy be effective or are there key state factors?
How far would a long term purchase policy help in market development?

Along with market analysis, there is a need to understand the financial feasibility of higher scalability, given the resource constraints, both in private and public domain.

Coming to technical issues, is grid-connected solar energy more suitable than distributed solar power in some situations? There is the need to develop the right balance between the two apart from understanding the proportional co-existence between solar thermal and photovoltaics in the country.

It is also equally important to analyze the infrastructure of the solar equipment manufacturing in India and how far it needs to align itself with the rest of the world. And also understand the level of skilled manpower development needed to support all the above.

The Solar 2010 conference and exhibition organized under the Renewable Energy India Forum will focus on the most challenging issues and opportunities available in the country. It will provide enormous business networking, knowledge forum and direct link to leading solar energy experts, industry leaders, private and government financial institutions, technology experts and nodal agencies in the solar energy sector in India.

"India is endowed with vast solar energy potential. About 5,000 trillion kWh per year energy is incident over India's land area with most parts receiving 4-7 kWh per sq. m per day. Hence both technology routes for conversion of solar radiation into heat and electricity, namely, solar thermal and solar photovoltaics, can effectively be harnessed providing huge scalability for solar in India".

The Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission aims to produce 22 gigawatts of solar power by 2022. The capacity addition comprises large photovoltaic and solar thermal power plants and smaller rooftop PV systems, two GW of off-grid distributed solar plants, 20 million square meters of solar collectors for low temperature applications, and 20 million solar lighting systems for rural areas.
