Unlock the potential of your energy data with a building audit

Reporting for estate and building energy management Unlock the potential of your energy data with a building audit.

BUILDING ENERGY AUDITS
An energy audit is an inspection, review and analysis of your site’s energy requirements and consumption. An audit investigates the building to get a better understanding of energy use and identify measures for cost savings.

OPTION 1: DESK-BASED
Reviewing your energy data from invoices and metering, we will undertake an in-depth desk-based assessment that will provide you with a wealth of information across your buildings energy use, where and how energy is being consumed and insights in to its’ performance.

1. Report on key findings:

Annual gas and electric consumption and the correlating carbon emissions
Energy efficiency performance against weather conditions
Energy consumption for non-space heating
Comparison to national standards for similar building type

2. Energy consumption review

Identification of energy use anomalies
Weather efficiency review and comments on heating controls
Assess actual versus predicted energy consumption
Evaluate the savings gained from soft and hard efficiency measures

3. Insights

Identify where further investments are needed

OPTION 2: SITE VISIT

In order to understand the usage of your building, an on-site audit cements the ability to pinpoint and identify opportunities for savings in a significantly more in-depth way that a desk based audit.

The specific aims of an on-site audit are:

To understand and quantify energy use – how much energy is being used, when and for what, allowing for an operational management review of the building to identify the impact on energy use
To understand the current approach to energy management, in particular looking at the staffing processes for energy monitoring, controls and action to suggest opportunities for improvement.
To identify opportunities for reducing energy use and related carbon dioxide emissions and saving costs, such as reviewing equipment and fabric to see what upgrades should be prioritised for the best returns on energy saving.

The Audit Process

The on-site energy audit will consist of:

A review of existing information (e.g. energy bills, energy supply contract)
Interviews with the relevant personnel
A site-visit and walk-round audit of the building

The audit will examine:

Building controls and monitoring
Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
Lighting and equipment

Annual gas and electric consumption and the correlating CO2e
Energy efficiency performance against weather conditions
Energy consumption for non-space heating

2. Energy consumption review

Identification of energy use anomalies
Weather efficiency review and comments on heating controls

3. Insights

Identify where further investments are needed
Carbon footprint
Energy use and emissions baseline for future improvement
Overview of existing approach to energy management and good practice
Opportunities for reducing energy use and estimated cost savings
Recommendations for improving energy monitoring and management
Costed options for improvements (within no or low cost, medium and high) and estimated paybacks
Recommendations for future energy monitoring, management and analysis
