Understanding Curzon Cinemas Energy Consumption
Pilio has been assisting Julie's Bicycle with providing Curzon Cinemas with a better understanding energy use and developing robust energy management (technologically and operationally). Armed with this review, Curzon Cinemas will reduce expenditure, increase efficiency and take a key step in cultivating a sustainable business culture.
In order to understand and quantify energy use at the cinema and to identify opportunities for reducing energy use and related carbon dioxide emissions and saving costs, we recently undertook a building audit at a pilot building. The pilot approach will be carried out in a way which is replicable across the Curzon’s estate.
Covering building controls and monitoring, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting, film screening and maintenance schedules, energy consumption over time was analysed.
Analysis provides an understanding in consumption patterns, identify peak demand and times/areas of higher than average use.
We undertook a walk-around audit and interviews of key personnel to focus on understanding energy management and identifying good practice and areas for improved energy management.
The resulting audit report, compiled by Julie’s Bicycle, will cover: a summary of energy use data and trends, opportunities for reducing energy use and estimated cost-savings, recommendations for improving energy monitoring and management, including costed options (zero/low cost, medium, high) and estimated paybacks and recommendations for extending energy monitoring and management across the different venues.
