Pavegen Systems

A flexible paving slab that generates energy from the kinetic energy of people walking over them. Energy is generated every time a footstep hits the slab. Wherever there is a high footfall there is an opportunity to harvest the wasted energy for other applications.
It allows people to actively participate in the energy saving process themselves, educating them about eco- efficiency as well as generating electricity.

The internal mechanism converts the kinetic energy from the footstep into electrical energy that is stored in a battery within the paving slab. The top rubber panel of the paving slab flexes less than 5mm with each footstep and this force is used to power an energy generation mechanism within. The energy generated can be used to power any low power applications including:
• Street lighting
• Pedestrian lighting
• Shop frontage lighting
• Wayfinding solutions
• Interactive and educational displays
• Information displays and many more possible applications.
