NAPIT supports National Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week 2011

Monday 21st November sees the launch of the UK's 6th National Carbon Monoxide Awareness week, which this year aims to further promote public awareness of the campaign whilst increasing our general understanding of carbon monoxide poisoning.

As well as a return visit to the House of Lords, CO awareness events are being held in Belfast, Scotland, Yorkshire and Liverpool, so as to promote awareness and the launch of a new carbon monoxide phone app.

Developed for smartphone devices and available for FREE from www.covictim.org, the Carbon Monoxide app offers an array of potentially life-saving information as well as an innovative charity donation function which allows users to contribute to the worthy cause.

The new, highly praised device has caused a stir amongst industry professionals. NAPIT director Dr Dennis Denholm commented on what he sees as being an effective and groundbreaking tool:

"Lynn Griffiths and John Andrews have unified to amplify a very important and understated safety message, a fact reinforced by the launch of this new, innovative phone app. NAPIT are proud of our ongoing sponsorship and support for CO Awareness and intend to continue keeping both the public and government informed about the inherent dangers of carbon monoxide."

Lynn Griffiths is the founder, president and driving force behind the charity which she launched in 2005 after losing her husband to the silent killer and suffering the full devastating effects of CO poisoning which have irreversibly impacted her family, who were poisoned for over a decade.

Carbon monoxide starves the blood of its oxygen, causing damage to the brain, heart, lungs and other vital organs, whilst leaving the elderly, those with heart or lung problems, pregnant mothers, young children and even unborn babies vulnerable.
