Low loss transformers

An alternative to voltage optimisation is to replace the existing transformer with a super low loss version.

Advantages of installing low loss transformers

A) Guaranteed savings through reduced transformer losses
The low loss transformers we supply are a unique product combining amorphous core material with low current density conductors to provide lowest combined transformer losses. Based on an average 25 year transformer lifespan, a 1000kVA the transformer achieves typically £80,000 worth of energy costs savings during its service through loss savings alone.

B) Substantial potential savings through voltage optimisation
The transformers will be manufactured to suit your exact requirements. If your supply voltage is high and you could benefit from reducing it, the unit will be designed to deliver your desired output voltage. In addition the transformer comes with an extended tapping range at no extra cost allowing you to further adjust output voltage when needed. What savings can be achieved does depend on your load, our customers typically achieve a 10% reduction of their electricity consumption. The super low loss amorphous transformer can be supplied for ratings from 315 kVA to 2500 kVA. Where supply to site fluctuates or a constant (+/- 1.25%) output voltage is required the transformer comes with an automatic voltage regulator that operates on load tap changers to provide you with stabilised site voltage.
