Residents of A1 Housing Association in Ranby, Nottinghamshire are now benefiting from reliable low cost, low carbon heating thanks to the installation of Ecodan® air source heat pumps.
The 5kW Ecodan units were retrofitted into eight bungalows run by A1 Housing, which works in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council after taking over the management of council homes in North Nottinghamshire, in 2004.
“We decided on Ecodan as it is the least invasive way of retro-fitting new heating into these properties which are about 40 years old,” explained Keith Brown of A1 Housing.
“The bungalows were previously heated with Economy Seven storage heaters so the tenants are delighted at the halving of their fuel bills and the units are now providing excellent heating all day long with ample hot water,” he added.
Award-winning Ecodan is proven to cut fuel bills and emissions over traditional heating systems whilst delivering reliable heating throughout the year.
“We have a lot of properties off the gas network and Ecodan provides an easy, one-stop-shop solution for us in terms of both carbon and fuel poverty reduction,” said Brown.
The Ecodan unit, which is very user-friendly, is fitted to the outside of the property and because it uses advanced technology taken from the commercial heating sector, it has a whisper-quiet operation.
“We have been trained and approved by Mitsubishi Electric to install Ecodan and realised early on what the potential is for this unit,” explained Michael Booth of Matthews and Tannert, who installed the Ecodan units. Kirby-in Ashfield based Matthews and Tannert are a leading plumbing and heating installation company.
“Ecodan is much smaller, lighter and quieter than other air source heat pumps that we’ve looked at and maintenance is simple and much cheaper to service than gas boilers,” he added.
