Sustainable energy policy intern

We are looking for an intern to support our expanding energy public affairs team to start ideally on 15 November 2011. The internship is for a fixed period of five months. The internship is unpaid but will include an allowance to cover out of pocket expenses including reasonable travel to and from the office. The successful candidate will be a recent university graduate in economics or engineering with demonstrable interest in energy affairs and the low carbon economy.

- is eager to learn and self-motivated
- is organised with a keen eye for detail
- has strong analytical and numerical skills
- has an excellent knowledge of MS Office, including experience of using Microsoft Excel to manipulate data and produce charts/graphs etc.
- has strong research and drafting skills
- has a demonstrable interest in politics, energy affairs and climate change issues

Responsibilities include
- supporting the team through analysis and research
- some hands-on participation in account work and parliamentary monitoring
- liaison with industry and wider stakeholders

The post is located in our offices in Knowle (near Solihull) in the West Midlands, but may on occasion involve travel to London, and other parts of the UK.

The successful candidate will be assigned to a mentor who will provide continuous guidance and advice as well as some initial foundational training.
