Final call to enter Britain's Greenest Home competition

With the closing date set for 9th June 2011, HomeSun, the UK's leading solar panel experts and Findaproperty.com are putting out a final call to find Britain's Greenest Home.

Since its launch in April, the competition has been hotting up with hundreds of entries received from all over the UK vying for the £3,000 first prize. The competition has so far received the highest number of entries from Isle of Wight, Avon, Cornwall and Devon.

A live leader board of all entries displayed on the HomeSun website has shown the Isle of Wight as a clear leader with 95 entries, Avon follows with 70, Devon is close behind with 65 and Cornwall comes in slightly behind the board leaders with 55 entries.

CEO of HomeSun Daniel Green said: "Our entries leader board changes on a daily basis so it's an exciting and tense sprint to the finish line. We've had approximately 1000 entries so far and we're delighted with the positive response. From the offset, the Isle of Wight, Avon, Devon and Cornwall have been frontrunners so it's clear that they have some of the most environmentally aware homeowners in the country. With energy prices set to rise there really has never been a better time to install solar."

Nigel Lewis of Findaproperty.com added: "Britain has embraced green homes in recent years and this is proved both by the number of entries to the competition so far, as well as the number of homes for sale on our site that have been refurbished or remodelled with greener living in mind."

Michael Fish, the semi-retired BBC weatherman, is helping HomeSun to promote the benefits of solar energy through the Britain's Greenest Home competition. "We're close to closing the competition and we’ve been thrilled with the response. As I've said before, people do see the benefits of making their homes green not only for the environment but for their wallets too."

The competition runs until 9th June 2011. The winner of the competition will be announced in July.
