Is the Italian ground based PV sector dead?

Large Scale Rooftop Solar PV
This spring, the Italian PV market was thrown into thrown into turmoil with the changes and uncertainty surrounding conto energia. Over the past few months developers have had their heads down focussing on getting projects constructed and connected before the deadlines. As the summer draws to a close, however, PV companies are now starting to take stock of the future of the Italian solar sector.

Caps on ground based projects over 200kW has made financing of such projects extremely difficult and a noticeable shift has been seen of companies moving to the large rooftop sector. With clever engineering, creative financing and strong relations in the building and solar sector this market is looking increasingly attractive.

On 27-28 November, Italy’s leading developers and investors with join Europe’s PV community in Berlin at the Large Scale Rooftop Solar PV congress. The first meeting of its kind, the conference will bring together building owners, developers, investors, policy influencers and leading technology companies to discuss how to be successful in this market.
