The client has played major roles in UK rounds 1, 2 and 3 and is growing their business both in the UK and other markets. Their capability covers all stage of a wind farm's development and all elements from turbines through to the grid. They are currently approaching the 6GW landmark.
The responsibilities of the role
The role of assistant site manager will be to assist with managing the day to day construction of a wind farm complex in the Carlisle region. The successful candidate will be required to report to the construction site manager on a daily basis. The role will include the day to day running of the site, which will include health and safety management, quality and environmental supervision as well as this The production of weekly progress reports, and procurement including the preparation of specification documents as well as assistance in managing the tendering of a number of balance of plant subcontracts.
The candidate will also be expected to travel around the UK, working with and reviewing other wind farm sites.
Experience and skills
To be considered for the assistant site manager role the applicant must have a background based in the construction sector (and preferably in a civil engineering discipline). The assistant site manager must be able to act on own initiative and independently, but still remain a functional member of the site team. 5+ years in a similar role and a proven track record are considered a must for this role. As well as this experience of working with LV, HV elements, lifting operations and the understanding of project planning and the use of proprietary software is of a distinct advantage. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
