Frost & Sullivan think tank – De-carbonising Europe: the future of energy and water
Highlights of Frost & Sullivan's energy and environment industry track at this year's Europe edition of Growth, Innovation and Leadership (GIL) Congress 2011
London—Energy and water continue to be critical topics of the day and – in spite of massive challenges during the recession – sustainability is still the key global issue. Smart grids, efficient power generation, renewable energy, water recycling and energy efficiency technologies have all been hit by financing challenges in the recent economic climate but all hold exciting mid to long term potential and are opening up new and related markets for smart technologies and infrastructure.
This year's energy and environment think tank at Frost & Sullivan's annual flagship client event, GIL 2011: Europe scheduled for 17– 8 May 2011 at the Emirates Stadium in London, will focus on decarbonising Europe: the future of energy and water.
Carbon reduction is one of the key priorities of European water utilities as it offers tangible opportunities of enhancing process and operational efficiencies in the extensive water and wastewater infrastructure and also tap into related opportunities for recovering valuable resource in the form of renewable energy.
Some of the estimates indicate that decarbonising measures that have been identified within the European Water Utility Industry can deliver close to one-third of the overall greenhouse gas reduction that EU Member States are committed to achieve by 2020.
Carbon reduction is about far more than just green or clean technology. Energy efficiency and smart technology are finding applications from the point of production through to the point of use of both energy and water, while the optimisation of generation, distribution and usage of these two critical ressources is a true Mega Trend of the 21st century.
GIL 2011: Europe is a must attend event for energy and environment executives seeking additional tools and strategies that will enable them to generate, evaluate and implement their growth strategies.
