Tilbury Green Power appoints BWSC and AET as EPC supplier
Tilbury Green Power Limited (TGP) has appointed a consortium of Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC), acting as consortium leader, and Aalborg Energie Technik A/S (AET) as its supplier for the EPC contract for the first phase of its new power generation facility located at the Port of Tilbury in Essex. The first phase will generate 30 MW of electricity and will be fuelled by recovered wood.
Following completion of the second phase of the project TGP will be able to produce up to 60 MW of electricity, enough to power around 100,000 homes. TGP received planning permission for the power facility in 2009 and has consent to use up to 650,000 tonnes of fuel per year, including solid recovered fuel and biomass fuel from virgin and recovered wood. TGP's plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2015.
Dirk van den Esschert, director of TGP, said: “We are very pleased to appoint BWSC and AET in consortium as successful bidder for the EPC contract for the first phase of the project. Their technology is widely used in the biomass generation market and their global presence and proven track record makes them important partners. This is a further key step in the delivery of our project.”
Anders Heine Jensen, CEO of BWSC and Hans Erik Askou CEO of AET said “We are pleased that our common efforts, proven track records and state-of-the-art technology have convinced TGP to move forward with us”
