Tilbury Green Power extends fuel catchment area to include Greater London

Tilbury Green Power Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Express Energy Holdings UK B.V., has recently been granted approval by the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation to modify the fuels catchment area for its 60MW renewable energy generation facility at Tilbury Docks, London.

Section 36 approval and deemed planning permission was approved for the facility in August 2009. The deemed permission defined the fuel catchment area as the East of England Region. The modified planning conditions enable the company to source recovered wood and SRF from an area that extends 50 miles from the site including Greater London. Fuels from the extended catchment area can be delivered by road and river. The geographical extent of the original catchment area remains unchanged as does the overall fuels input tonnage (650,000tpa).

Paul Zanin, Projects Planning Director said “We’re very pleased to announce the modification to the fuels catchment area. It’s a logical extension to the original conditions as there are significant supplies of fuel in relative close proximity to the site that may now be available to us. The modification provides an opportunity further to improve the sustainability credentials of the project. It’s also an important factor as the company draws together fuels and procurement contracts to reach financial close and commence development on the site.”

For more information on the project please send us an enquiry.
