Building New Business through Sustainable Homes
Start Date:14 May 12
SummitSkills and Rushlight Events are delighted to announce a special event: Building New Business through Sustainable Homes, taking place at BDO's offices at 55 Baker Street, London W1U 7EU on Monday 14 May, at 6pm. The contents of a new report resulting from research undertaken by Zero Carbon Hub will be the mainstay of this event and all attendees will receive a free copy.
The targets for the level of sustainability of new homes and commercial buildings by 2016 and 2019 mean that past building design, engineering, fabrics and practices have to change in a comparatively short time. This means that there are opportunities throughout the domestic construction supply chain to take a market share of a brand new demand level. Now is the time to establish the business model in order to exploit this opportunity. However, there are so many variables to consider and it is not straightforward to determine what the true potential might be and what is the best course of action to optimise this new business. This new report seeks to summarise all the regulatory and other key variables which have a material impact in this context and therefore it can form the basis of a new business plan to grow and enjoy the fruits of the new green economy.
The agenda is as follows:
6.00pm Welcome: Marc Reinecke, partner, BDO LLP
6.05pm Chair: Lord Martin O’Neill
6.10pm Opening remarks: DCLG minister invited
6.20pm Report key findings: Nigel Hollett, head of environmental technologies, SummitSkills; and Mike Hammond, head of research, SummitSkills
6.40pm Report in more detail: Neil Jefferson, CEO Zero Carbon Hub
7.00pm Panel Q&A: Henry Demaria, hHead of zero carbon policy, DCLG; Pete Halsall, chair, Good Homes Alliance; Neil Jefferson, Zero Carbon Hub; Mike Hammond, SummitSkills
7.20pm Networking and drinks
Attendees will learn about the report, be able to quiz key personnel who are immersed in this area, network with others who are involved in the supply chain, receive a free copy of the report, discuss the report with the authors and commissioners and enjoy the hospitality of our host for the evening. Attendance costs £35 plus VAT.
